This is Holland

What makes the Netherlands special and worth a visit? A small country with a very diverse landscape and lots of history and culture. Over seventeen million people share an area of just 41,543 square kilometres. The Dutch need to live and work, travel and create here. Nature needs space, but so does agriculture, industry and water… lots of water. No less than four milion people in Holland live below sea level. The Dutch are masters of building dikes, windmills, flood defences and in the constuction of polders. You will discover how culture, economics, nature, art and world heritage go hand in hand in our country through the more than 140 beautiful photos in this book. This is Holland! Photographers Frans Lemmens and Marjolijn van Steeden decided, after a number of years producing travel projects abroad, to focus again on the Netherlands in 2010. This resulted, among other things, in the books Icons of the Netherlands (2012), Nederland vanuit de lucht (2013),The Netherlands at its best (2014) and Still Holland (2017) – all four in collaboration with National Geographic. Their books Holland – The Living Delta (2015) and De Wilde Stad – Urban Nature Amsterdam (2017) were published to coincide with the films of the same name produced in collaboration with EMS FILMS.
