Abraham and Ibrahim

Have you ever heard of Ibrahim? The Qur'an, the holy book for Muslims, tells us about Ibrahim. Have you ever heard of Abraham? The Bible, the holy book for Christians, tells us about Abraham. Think the two names sound alike? That's because they are the same person. he is written about in both books, as are many other people of faith: Moses, Noah, David, and Mary to name a few. Abraham and Ibrahim: The Bible and the Qur'an Told to Children is an English translation of a book by Francien Van Overbeeke-Rippen that was used for religious education in schools in the Netherlands. The stories from the Bible and the Qur'an ae presented side-by-side to invite dialogue and exploration into the faiths of Christianity and Islam. The book is divided into eight units, and a study guide for each unit plus resources are found in the back of the book. Abraham and Ibrahim: Th Bible and the Qur'an Told to Children can be used in classrooms, as a part of a mid-week program, or in individual homes. Each session comes with two options: one session for Muslim and Christian children together, and one session for Christian children. Designed primarily for older elementary children (age 8-10), this resource can be used with people of all ages as a tool to become more mature in their own faith by becoming knowledgeable about the faith of their friends.
