Een dystopisch verhaal dat toegankelijker geschreven is en dichter bij de werkelijkheid voelt - maar overigens niet per se beter is - dan 1984. Als je een relevante klassieker zoekt die ook lekker wegleest, is dit een uitstekende keuze. Ik was er zo doorheen, mede doordat de futuristische wereld (in de niet zo verre toekomst) waarin hoofdpersoon Mae zich begeeft zo helder en beeldend wordt beschreven. Stiekem zou jij ook wel bij zo'n bedrijf willen werken, waar alles - van wellness tot teamsport tot concerten tot rijke borrels - voorhanden is en iedereen geïnteresseerd is in elkaar. Althans, dat denk je in het begin misschien. Heel even.
