This illustrated publication is built up around different themes: healthcare concepts, Evidence Based Design, technology and presentations of recently built hospitals in the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Norway and the United Kingdom. The book contains a selection of new, groundbreaking designs, complemented by a number of probing historical studies and is based in part on a congress of the same name, initiated by the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), which included various conferences, studios and workshops.
